What To Do If You Have Plantar Fasciitis

Posted on

Plantar fasciitis is a condition of the foot where the tendon that stretches from the toe up to the middle of the heel becomes inflamed. The pain you feel may be like needles in your foot, or may feel like a burning pain in your foot. The pain may only be when you first begin to walk, but as you go through your day, it may get better. You may also feel this pain when you are at rest, as opposed to when you are moving. If you think you have plantar fasciitis, you should consult a podiatrist to be properly diagnosed and to be treated for this condition. You may be able to help heal your plantar fasciitis or treat it at home yourself by making some changes. Read below for a few tips.

Wear Supportive Shoes

Shoes with supportive inserts in them will help, but wearing shoes that are already supportive will also help considerably. If you are on your feet quite a bit, look for shoes that have arch support and that offer support for your heels, ankles and toes as well. If your shoes aren't supportive, they could be causing your plantar fasciitis. This is because your foot is not going to have the cushion it needs to prevent pain from walking and moving all day long. You are also leaving yourself open to injury if you aren't wearing supportive shoes. Add inserts to shoes that don't have enough cushion or arch support for your feet.

Lose Weight

If you are overweight, you are putting a lot of stress on your body. Your feet are going to take the brunt of the stress on your body, and you may notice a lot more issues with your feet. If you have plantar fasciitis, it may be because of your weight. Talk to your physician about getting onto a weight loss plan to lose some weight in a healthy manner and notice a difference in your feet and other parts of your body.

Rest Your Feet

Rest your tired feet in an Epsom salt bath from time to time. A bath with Epsom salts can help remove toxins from the feet and will help to alleviate pain in your feet. Rest your feet in a foot bath for at least 20 minutes at a time. If you are someone that is on their feet a lot, this can make your feet feel a lot better.

If you have plantar fasciitis, you should seek treatment from a podiatrist. Get diagnosed and treated properly to get rid of your foot pain.
